When this problem was analysed over the years it resulted not only in defining the cause of malfunctioning in tape drive, but also in defining a new regeneration technology based on the physics and chemistry aspect of videotape surfaces without altering their magnetic configuration.

The equipment has been designed to work with Open Reel Prosumer tape (1/4 or ¾ inch), ½ inch Beta Broadcast tape and Open Reel Broadcast tape ( 1 or 2 inch). Once the videotapes have been treated by this method, they can be re-read via a VTR of the same standard, that is: a videotape-recorder identical to the one that was used for writing on it.

There are very few video recorders of that period still in use (able to comply with the various standards: Akai -100, 110 and VT 700, Sony CV 2100, Sony AV 3400, etc.) and they have already been purchased and restored to enable tape reading once they have been regenerated. The audio/video signal does not change compared to the original one. After this step, images and sounds can be transported via hardware and software electronic line onto a digital medium thus further enhancing their quality.
